Bora Bora Pearl Resort

Bora Bora Pearl Resort & Spa

Flight Time from Papeete to Bora Bora - 50 minutes

Bora Bora has become the center of tourism in Tahiti and Her Islands.  As you approach the island on your inter-island flight, it appears like a precious emerald in a setting of turquoise.  You will be impressed by the kaleidoscope of shimmering iridescence that you will see everywhere you look... aquamarine, lapis, turquoise, sapphire, cobalt, emerald, jade, indigo and periwinkle.  Bora Bora is different than Moorea in that there is a ring around the center of the island and each resort sits on its own ringlet.  There are boats that will take you from your hotel to the main island.  It's very beautiful and surreal to be surrounded by a pool of water and reefs!

Each hotel in Bora Bora has its own transportation service between the hotel and the boat dock in Vaitape, the main village on the island.

Marae Marotetini

Restored in 1968, Marae Marotetini was once the most important Polynesian temple on Bora Bora. According to the old religion, the "marae" stones here are associated with Mt. Otemenu. Nearby tombs built for the Bora Bora royal family during the 19th century.

Bloody Mary's

Few watering holes are so mythic that they merit inclusion on a list of attractions, but this bar/restaurant is an exception. Bloody Mary's is an island institution, thanks to the many international celebrities who have passed through her doors. Reservations recommended.

Marae Taharuu

One of the more curious ancient "marae" stones in all of French Polynesia, Marae Taharuu is a tall, thumb-shaped obelisk that juts from the earth. This vantage point also yields one of the finest views in Bora Bora.

This majestic volcanic peak is greatly admired for its imposing beauty. Depending on the weather and the time of day, visitors can see brilliant contrasts in light and color between the great peak and the ever-changing lagoon that surrounds it.

The best sportsfishing in Bora Bora can be enjoyed just outside the island's reef. Here, you can hook blue marlin, mahimahi, sailfish, wahoo and yellowfish. The island is served by a number of charter boats, which offer friendly, knowledgeable service.
